Middle School

Middle School at Danville includes grades 7 and 8. Our middle school shares many systems and opportunities with our high school , including clubs, advisory, access to fine arts, applied arts, and music.

Students in grades 7 and 8 have daily classes in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Humanities. They also take Music, Art, Family and Consumer Science, Health, and Foreign Language (exposure to both French and Spanish).

Students have Physical Education weekly, and an Activity period daily.

Students in 8th grade create a Portfolio of "Graduation" Requirements based on the Vermont Transferable Skills. Danville's 8th Grade PBGRs are:

T = Teamwork

R = Responsibility

A = Academics

C = Communication

K = Kindness

Teamwork, Responsibility, Communication and Kindness each have Learning Scales by which they self-assess their progress, including the following Proficient and Advanced indicators:

Teamwork: I can contribute and respond respectfully to diverse perspectives to promote an exchange of ideas, I can use peers, experts and organizations to help me meet my goals.

Responsibility: I can identify my decisions and actions. I can identify my own responsibilities and the responsibilities of others, I can explain the reasons for my decisions and actions, as well as their outcomes.

Communication: I can explain the reasons for my decisions and actions, as well as their outcomes.

Kindness: I can work with my teachers and peers to build a community in which we build each other up.
